Walk the Chalk 9th to the 23rd of June

Walk the Chalk is back with yet more amazing guided walks.  Join us in celebrating the wonders of nature and discover the hidden beauty of the North Downs landscape!

Chalk Walk
13th June 2019.  10.00-13.00 


Join us for a chalk walk around the Kent Downs taking in the beautiful sites of Cuxton Village and the surrounding area. This walk includes some steep slopes and stiles so strap on your walking boots and enjoy the views.

Bat Walk
14th June 2019.  9.00-10.30  


Join us for a night walk discovering the bats of Cobham. Using bat detectors, you will get the chance to hear the bats calls as they dart around feeding.
Parking is opposite Lodge Barn. Please bring your own torch and sturdy footwear is recommended.

Birding by ear
15th June 2019.  10.30-12.30pm

Birding by ear, a guided bird walk though Cobham Wood.
Bird song is one of the wonders of the natural world and knowing their songs and calls are an invaluable skill for any birder. Chris Drake will lead this walk through farmland and woodland, stopping to point out bird song and describing the range of species which can be found in this ancient wood pasture, a rare habitat in the UK.This pleasant walk along level ground gradually rises as we reach our destination, the 18th century Darnley Mausoleum, managed by the National Trust.

This walk is aimed at sight impared people, their support network and members of the Kent Association for the Blind

Chalk Walk

Join us for a guided chalk walk around the Kent Downs taking in the beautiful sites of Cuxton Village and the surrounding countryside. Led by the Cuxton Countryside Group this walk includes some steep slopes and stiles, so strap on your walking boots and enjoy the views.
Distance: 5.5miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Leaving from and returning to the White Hart Pub (No Parking at the pub). Parking on nearby streets, parking restrictions may apply.

Know Your Place

Led by Medway Swale Estuary Partnership, on this creative walk around the downs near Cuxton, we will create our own memory maps of the route by paying close attention to the sights, sounds and stories encountered along the way.

Dogs on the Downs
21st June 2019.  10am-11.30  


Join us for a dog friendly moderate wander around the Kent Downs close to the pretty village of Boxley, looking out for some the area’s impressive wildlife along the way.
Starting at St Mary’s & All Saints Church, this 3 mile circular walk, Led by the Medway Swale Estuary Partnership is a great chance to meet, like minded people and learn about the beautiful Downs and the doggy countryside code.

Summer Flowers and Wildlife Walk
22nd June 2019. 10.00- 12.00  


Join the Leybourne Lakes rangers on a short walk through the country park, looking specifically at managing meadows and how differing practices produce a more diverse range of habitats for lots of different fauna and flora.
They will also be sweep netting through the long grass to see what invertebrates they can find and identify.

Cobham Landscape Walk
22nd of June 2019. 10.30- 12.30

Join archaeologist Andrew Mayfield on a walk around Cobham Woods taking in the fascinating landscape, ancient trees, local history and hidden archaeology.
The walk is 5 kilometres leisurely circular route.  Sturdy comfortable footware is advised.

Free parking is located at South Lodge Barn, Lodge Lane, Cobham, DA12 3BS.
Parking is limited, so please car share if possible.

Walk the Chalk- 8 Mile Circular Walk
23rd of June 2019.  10.00- 15.00

Join us for our walking festival finale! This circular walk will cover 8 miles of the beautiful North Downs with steep hills and changing terrain. Starting in Cobham the walk includes a multitude of habitats and breathtaking views of the Luddesdown Valley.
Bring a picnic for a lunch time pit stop at the lost village of Dode and plenty of water to keep hydrated.  Sturdy comfortable footwear is advised and all dogs should be kept on a lead.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Parking spaces are limited, please arrive 15 minutes before the starting time for health and safety brief.
Please bring your own water and refreshments. Dogs are welcome but please keep them on the lead.

Pollinator survey techniques - Aims to provide attendees with an introduction to survey and monitoring wild pollinators, and how to get started with identifying and recording different types of insect pollinators. We will spend some time in the field to (hopefully!) encounter a range of pollinators.
